The UK has a large number of old road signs; in reality, its not surprising as there are so many road signs out there. This has led to a wide array of signage types, ages and conditions as many signs often go unnoticed, whilst others have not just had replacements commissioned.
Fingerposts are now protected through governmental guidance, but other Pre-Warboys signs are not - despite fans wanting to see them preserved, the Department for Transport has stated that all remaining examples should be replaced with modern signage. A real shame, as there are some great examples still around! One good thing, however, is that many are in preservation.
