welcome to roadsUK

Hello, and welcome to roadsUK, a website dedicated to taking a detailed insight into the British road network and the features which encompass it. Whether you're a first time visitor or take a regular peek at the site, please feel free to take a look around!

Here you can find information on all sorts of aspects that form part of the United Kingdom road system, from small neighbourhood features, to the bigger projects that are established with the aim of helping make the system flow that little smoother.

roadsUK is one of the largest and fastest growing independently managed roads website on the internet. The website is regularly visited by - and receives contributions from - a wide arrange of people, from enthusiasts to media researchers and government officials, and everyone is welcome to take a look around, whatever your interest.

This isn't a campaign website, merely an informative one that tries to educate and entertain - you will find no politics or protests here. It forms part of an extremely detailed online network of roads-related websites, of which you can access more of by clicking on the "website links" option to the left of the screen.

I hope you enjoy the website and and if you find something that isn't included here that you would like to find out more about, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

So what's going on around here then?

24th July 2010
This week, a special treat in the form of a photo guide to the UK's most secretive motorway. It is so secret, it features on virtually no maps! So fasten your seatbelts and take a spin around the M96!

Two little calls for help this week. Firstly, can anyone provide photographs of street lighting (preferably close-ups), and info on what they are? If you can help, please get in touch! Any submitted and used will be credited.

Secondly, a gentleman called Alan Simpson is currently running a survey on Motorway Rest Areas (such as the new one on the M6 at Todhills in Cumbria), to help with his dissertation. If you would like to take part - and be in with a chance of winning £25 in Marks and Spencer vouchers - simply click here to go to the survey!
